Step 1: Installation

  1. Download the FakeCam script from Gumroad.

  2. Unzip the downloaded file.

  3. Place the unzipped .jsx file and the Duik folder into your After Effects Scripts folder. This is usually located in Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe After Effects <version>\\Support Files\\Scripts\\ScriptUI Pannels on Windows, or Applications/Adobe After Effects <version>/Scripts/ScriptUI Pannels on Mac.

  4. Restart After Effects.

Step 2: Preparing Your Project

  1. Open the After Effects project where you want to use the FakeCam script.
  2. If you want to use existing layers as levels for the 2D Multiplane Camera, select them in the composition. If you don't select any layers, the script will prompt you to enter the number of levels to create.

Step 3: Running the Script

  1. Go to Window > FakeCam.jsx to run the script.

  2. If you didn't select any layers before running the script, a dialog box will appear asking you to enter the number of levels you want to create. Enter a number and click "OK".

  3. The script will create a 2D Multiplane Camera using the selected layers or the specified number of levels.

Step 4: Using the 2D Multiplane Camera

  1. The 2D Multiplane Camera created by the script can be used just like any other camera in After Effects. You can adjust its properties in the Timeline panel, and animate it using keyframes.
  2. The levels created by the script (either the layers you selected, or the new levels it created) will be parented to the camera. This means that they will move with the camera, creating a multiplane effect.
